--The Twins placed INF Nick Punto on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a strained left hamstring. The injury happened, Punto said, during a game Wednesday in Chicago. The Twins recalled IF Alexi Casilla from Class AAA Rochester to replace Punto on the 25-man roster. Casilla joined the Twins in time for Sunday's game against the Red Sox. Manager Ron Gardenhire said the team opted to call up Casilla because of a need for an infielder with some speed. The DL trip comes at an unfortunate time for Punto, who had five hits in his last 15 at-bats.
--RHP Pat Neshek has a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament and will not pitch again this season, the team announced during Friday's game. Neshek injured his elbow Thursday in Chicago, saying he felt something "snap, sort of" in his elbow. An MRI revealed the tear Monday. RHP Jesse Crain will take over most of the eighth-inning duties Neshek was responsible for.
--2B Brendan Harris sat out of Saturday and Sunday's games after he felt his right hamstring tighten up when he was running the bases in Friday's game. Gardenhire said Harris probably could have played, but the team held him out of the lineup as a precaution.
--SS Adam Everett's solo home run in the second was his first of the year. DH Craig Monroe's two homers, combined with Everett's one, made for the first time this season that Minnesota -- now with 20 total homers -- has hit more than one ball over the fence in a single game.
--The Twins used pink bats on Sunday -- the team's third-straight year playing the a nationally-televised game on Mother's Day -- and by now they might petition to keep the color around. The team has seven home runs while using pink bats in the last two years. On Mother's Day in 2007, Minnesota scored 16 runs on 22 hits, four of them homers.
BY THE NUMBERS 40 -- Through Saturday's game, Twins pitchers had surrendered an American League-high 40 home runs this season. Luckily for Minnesota, 33 of those 40 homers have been solo shots. Of the remaining seven, five have been for two runs, one was for three runs and one was a grand slam.
QUOTE TO NOTE "You know what? The game started too late, and I said, let me run the bases quick so the game goes fast, and that's what I tried to do." -- CF Carlos Gomez, on why he sprinted around the bases after his leadoff home run in a rain-delayed game last week in Chicago. Gomez went on to hit for the cycle.

According to Joe Christensen, Casey Blake's agent said that the Twins are within "shouting distance" on the years and money for Casey Blake. It appears as if the battle for Blake is down to only the Twins and Dodgers. If the Twins do sign Blake, is a trade for JJ Hardy sti

There was a rumor that the A’s, Giants, and "a surprise team" are interested in Rafael Furcal. I was high on him in the beginning of the offseason and thought the Twins had a shot at him. After seeing some projected numbers for a 3 year deal, I doubte
